AY Makun explains why he cannot refuse the national honor Buhari has bestowed upon him.

Ay Makun, a well-known comedian, responded to criticism from trolls by outlining why he is unable to decline the national distinctions that former president Buhari has bestowed upon him.

The comedian had expressed his joy at receiving the national accolade from the Buhari administration in a social media post

Social media users had responded to this, and some of them attacked him for accepting an honor from an administration they had lambasted in the comments area.

In response, AY remarked that receiving an award is the highest honor one can have and that it doesn't matter who gives it to someone since what matters is that he has made his fair share of contributions to the nation's progress.

He insisted that Nigeria comes before any president or political party and is the object of his commitment.

AY stated:

“Those of you shaming or asking me to reject ‘A National Honour’ are clearly missing a vital point. Our country is bigger and more important than any president or political party awarding it. A national honour is the highest recognition anyone can get for his or her contributions to nation building. So my allegiance is to a country where i have contributed my own quota, and i am more than happy to be rewarded by the same nation”
