Chloe Bailey bemoans racism in music industry
Chloe Bailey, an American singer and actor, has expressed her disapproval with racism in the music industry.
The 25-year-old lamented the fact that White musicians are seen as mainstream pop stars, but Black artists are forced into certain genres.
She asserted that because she is Black, her music is classified as R&B.
Chloe asserted in her Nylon cover story that her style of music would fall within the pop category if it were performed by a White person.
“Any music I do will easily and quickly be categorized as R&B because I’m a Black woman. If someone who didn’t have my skin tone made the same music, it would be in the pop categories. That’s just the way it’s always been in life,” she lamented.
