Lionel Messi Arrest and Detained At Beijing Airport
Lionel Messi encountered a mishap during his trip to Taiwan as he led the Argentina national team in preparation for their friendly match against Australia.
The seven-time award-winning player reportedly used the wrong passport upon arriving at the Beijing airport. Instead of presenting his Argentine document, which would have facilitated his passage through Chinese immigration, the 35-year-old accidentally presented his Spanish passport.
Accompanied by his international teammate Angel di Maria, Rodrigo De Paul, and some bodyguards, Messi was stopped by immigration officials. He was briefly detained but was soon released after it was clarified that he had used the incorrect passport.
Fortunately, the incident was resolved, and a few hours later, Messi continued his journey without further embarrassment. Fans eagerly awaited his arrival at the airport, excited to catch a glimpse of their beloved superstar.
In recent news, Messi surprised the footballing world by announcing his decision to join Inter Miami this summer. Speculation had been rife about a possible return to Barcelona for a second stint at the Camp Nou or a move to the Saudi Pro League, but the midfielder ultimately chose Major League Soccer (MLS).
