Ortom Breaks Speaks on Reported Arrest By EFCC, Reveals What Happened

The former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has refuted reports that he was detained by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The former governor was detained by the anti-graft agency in Makurdi on Monday, according to reports on social media.

On the other side, Ortom asserted that he was only complying with an invitation from the EFCC in a statement released Tuesday night by his media adviser, Terver Akase. Ortom "was neither arrested nor detained at the EFCC Zonal Headquarters in Makurdi," the statement claims. Contrary to allegations made in some media outlets, the former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, visited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, today at the commission's request. The former governor has stated time and time again that he is willing to speak with investigators from anti-corruption organizations since he has nothing to hide in regards to his management of Benue State.
