Yahoo: Naira Marley's Trial Postponed (See why)

The Federal High Court in Lagos postponed the musician Azeez Fashola's (often known as Naira Marley) trial on charges of cybercrime because the chief justice of the court needed to approve a decree. Fashola is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for the purported felony; charges were submitted on May 14, 2019.

Yahoo: Naira Marley's Trial Postponed (See why)

On May 20, 2019, Fashola, who is well-known for the song "Am I a Yahoo Boy," was arraigned before Justice Nicholas Oweibo. He entered a not guilty plea and was given bail.

Following Oweibo's transfer out of the Lagos division, the matter was eventually assigned to Justice Isaac Dipeolu.

Both the prosecution and defense attorneys told Judge Dipeolu about the proposed fiat that was awaiting clearance during the most recent session on March 6.

The fiat had not been authorized as of the most recent hearing, but the case was postponed until May 30 for an update. The trial will continue on an unspecified date.

According to the EFCC, Fashola conspired to defraud victims using several ATM cards between November 26, 2018, and December 11, 2018, as well as on May 10, 2019.

In addition, the commission charges him with breaking the 2015 Cyber Crime (Prohibition) Prevention Act by having fake credit cards with the intention of defrauding others.
