Biafra: 500 Igbo Soldiers Resign From The Nigerian Army
A Facebook user who goes by Chinawatra Ndi-Igbo said that more than 500 Igbo officers left the military. The tweet was made in the midst of the murder of roughly 16 officers in Okuama, Delta State, and the kidnapping of now-released schoolchildren in Kaduna State.
A photo showing the officers’ resignation and vote of no confidence in President Tinubu was also attached in the comment section. The March 13, 2024, tweet was shared on Wednesday and has been repeated on X (previously Twitter) and Instagram, among other social media networks.
A fact-checking website called Dubawa confirmed the report after checking. The platform claims that the verification was necessary because of the news’s sensitivity and its consequences.
Dubawa found that the claim was wrong in a report that was released on Saturday, March 23, after conducting an inquiry.
It claimed that the attached images were outdated images that had been leaked and that the outfit worn in the picture did not belong to the Nigerian Army. The images were taken in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
