Donald Trump has vowed to stop Nigerians and other non-citizens from getting birthright citizenship for their children if re-elected in 2024.
Trump stated that the current constitutional promise of U.S. citizenship for all people born within its borders, regardless of parental immigration status, is ineffective in a statement released on Tuesday, May 31.
On "day one" of his incoming term as president, he wants to solve this by signing an executive order that establishes the proper legal interpretation and prevents the children of undocumented immigrants from being automatically granted U.S. citizenship.
