Hilda Baci, Peter Obi Present as Nigerian Doctor Breaks World Record for Largest Drawing

This creative titan began his Herculean effort on July 16, transforming Onikan Stadium into a vibrant canvas of vision and determination.

David, from the bustling city of Lagos, embarked on this six-day drawing marathon with a grand vision: to construct a massive map of Nigeria that painstakingly depicts the country's unique weave of diverse cultures.

With each stroke, he aimed to capture the essence and spirit of his hometown.

On Friday, David broke the previous record of 629.98 m² (6781.04 ft²) held by India's Ravi Soni since November 30, 2021, with a stunning artwork. Soni's record from Rajasthan pales in comparison to David's remarkable achievement.

David's hopes rose even higher when he revealed his ultimate goal: to create a mind-blowing 1000 square metres of art, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the visual arts.

Throughout his artistic journey, David was not alone. A cavalcade of well-known Nigerians arrived on Onikan Stadium to cheer him on, transforming the event into a true celebration of support and admiration.

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate whose presence added political gravitas; Hilda Baci, the celebrated chef and former GWR holder whose culinary fame and charm added an extra sparkle to the proceedings; and Farooq Oreagba, the flamboyant businessman who recently wowed the crowds at the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival.

The administrators of David's alma mater, the College of Medicine University of Lagos (CMUL), also expressed their solidarity.

The attempt is slated to conclude on July 21. David's record-breaking attempt, however, requires validation from the respected British reference book.

Nigerian Visual Artist, Dr. Fola David has broken the World Record for the Largest Drawing by an Individual.

He has broken the former record of 629.98 square metres. He plans to reach 1,000 square metres of art.
