Sophia Bush Confirms Her Relationship with Ashlyn Harris
After revealing her sex identity and discussing her long-rumored connection with soccer player Ashlyn Harris, Sophia Bush feels as though she can now breathe. “When I take stock of the last few years, I can tell you that I have never operated out of more integrity in my life. I hope that’s clear enough for everyone speculating out there,” the “One Tree Hill” alum wrote Thursday in an essay for the April issue of Glamour.
The 41-year-old talked about how her difficult infertility problems caused her one-year marriage to Grant Hughes to feel phony and end.
She also described how Harris, who was going through her own divorce with former teammate Ali Krieger, coincided with her own recovery from that relationship.
Bush stated in her letter that she was left “in the depths and heartbreak of the fertility process” following her idyllic wedding, which she doesn’t regret.
All of that was kept a secret while she underwent months of hormone shots, ultrasounds, blood draws that left scar tissue in her veins, and repeated egg retrievals, “while simultaneously realizing the person I had chosen to be my partner didn’t necessarily speak the same emotional language I did.”
After around six months of the voyage, the presenter of the podcasts “Work in Progress” and “Drama Queens,” claimed she felt something “seismically shift” and “knew deep down that I absolutely had made a mistake.”
She eventually filed for divorce after about 13 months of marriage. Bush moved to London “to get out of our house” after her divorce from businessman and real estate mogul Hughes, and she performed a play to “jump-start the joy” she had been chasing. (Due to illness, she left “2:22 A Ghost Story” in July 2023.)
The actor from “Love, Victor” and “Chicago P.D.” claimed that after returning to her empty Los Angeles home last summer, a growing number of the ladies in her circle began talking openly about their personal problems.
She’d met the U.S. Women’s National Team goalie in 2019 and counted her “kind ear” among them. It was not where she expected to find love.
“I don’t know how else to say it other than: I didn’t see it until I saw it. And I think it’s very easy not to see something that’s been in front of your face for a long time when you’d never looked at it as an option and you had never been looked at as an option.”
She claimed that it required other individuals outside of their “safe support bubble” to alert Bush to the fact that she and Harris would either finish each other’s sentences or have similar, profound effects.
Months after each of them filed for divorce, reports on the couple’s dating first arose in October. A few weeks ago, People claimed that the “One Tree Hill” alum and the goalkeeper for the U.S. Women’s National Team went out on their first dinner date, and TMZ declared that they were “officially a thing.”
Bush discussed the alleged first date in her essay, describing it as a four and a half-hour supper that was “truly one of the most surreal experiences of my life thus far.”
She wrote, “It’s true that for a brief moment, I had the impression that the universe was working in my favor.” However, it was depressing to deal with the criticism she experienced from the public.
She wrote, “The ones who said I’d left my ex because I suddenly realized I wanted to be with women — my partners have known what I’m into for as long as I have (so that’s not it, y’all, sorry!)” She clarified that she had left her marriage after a year of “doing the most soul-crushing work of my life,” not because she had a chance encounter.
Bush was also charmed with her partner’s moral character and devotion to her kids.
Regarding her identification, the devoted lifelong LGBTQIA+ ally talked about how she felt comfortable in the LGBT community.
“I think I’ve always known that my sexuality exists on a spectrum. Right now I think the word that best defines it is queer,” she wrote. “I can’t say it without smiling, actually. And that feels pretty great.”
