Wizkid wrote the song ‘One dance’ featuring Drake – Seyi Shay

Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, better known by his stage as Seyi Shay, has addressed doubts around who owns the hit song "One dance," which was co-written by Afrobeat artist Wizkid and Canadian rapper Drake.

Wizkid wrote the song ‘One dance’ featuring Drake – Seyi Shay

Drake's 2016 single "One Dance" is one of his best-selling tracks. The song, which featured Wizkid and British singer Kyla, peaked at the top of several charts worldwide, including the US Billboard Hot 100.

Although it's commonly assumed that Drake wrote every song, Seyi Shay revealed that Nigerian music legend Wizkid was the actual songwriter of Drake's worldwide hit single "One Dance."

This unexpected fact was revealed by Seyi Shay in an interview with DJ Akademiks, a Jamaican-American podcaster.

she said: “The same thing that’s going on in Africa right naw. One Dance is actually Wizkid song. It is not Drake song. I don’t know if I can talk about it naw. It is Wizkid song. He wrote it as an Afrobeat. Wizkid brought it. Legendary beats and some other Nigerian producers."
